GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 19, 2012 – Cascade Engineering’s Decade Products business unit will be hosting attendees of the National Onion Association’s (NOA) July 25-28 Summer Conference in Grand Rapids.  Members of the press are invited to attend the Friday, July 27, event, which will include a facility tour and industry exchange involving Cascade Engineering & Decade’s representatives and the NOA’s leadership and members, as well as media interview and photo opportunities.

Founded in 1913 and based in Greeley, Colo., the NOA (www.onions-usa.org) is one of the nation’s oldest agricultural trade groups and comprises a diverse membership of more than 500 growers, shippers, brokers and other commercial representatives.  The organization’s 2012 Summer Conference will focus on a variety of industry and educational topics, including the latest industry best practices, and current legislative issues and consumer trends, such as the popular “buy local” movement.  The conference also will   look at product innovations, including those developed by Decade Products, that enable growers to produce and ship more than six billion pounds of onions annually in the United States alone.

Decade Products (www.decadeproducts.com) offers an extensive line of plastic containers and pallets for a variety of agricultural, food processing and other industrial applications.  Engineered from a high-density structural foam, the company’s products are distinguished by their strong and lightweight construction, reusability and maintenance-free reliability  Decade’s USDA-approved agricultural solutions enable more effective harvesting, handling, transportation and storage; help protect growers’ products by eliminating splinters, pests, pathogens and water absorption; enable easy sterilization; and can incorporate RFID technology to enable better traceability and tracking.

“Decade Products is delighted to welcome the National Onion Association, the voice for an important and unique industry that makes the food we eat so much more flavorful, healthful and interesting,” said Ralph Harris, President of Decade Products.  “We’re looking forward to learning about the industry’s evolving opportunities and needs, sharing the customized solutions Decade Products can provide and sharing another facet of the West Michigan experience to the NOA’s visiting members.”
